Orange, yellow, and brown leaves flood the sidewalks and streets. The air is crisp, cool, and refreshing. It’s no wonder North Carolina autumns are said to some of the most beautiful. If you’re lucky enough to be in the area during the fall months or have lived here for years, make sure to check out all of the wonderful outdoor autumn activities offered in Raleigh and its surrounding areas!

Clad yourself in warm flannel, grab some warm cider, and hitch yourself a spooky hayride at Green Level Gourd Farm in Cary. Always a fun group activity, bring your friends or family too! Wouldn’t want you to get too spooked out there! Or, if you’re on a quest for the perfect pumpkin, there are plenty of patches to visit, including Green Acres Farm in Cary and Ragan & Holly’s Pumpkin Patch in Apex. Green Acres Farm also offers tons of other fall-related activities if you wanted to make it a whole day adventure such as hayrides, hay mazes, antique cars and trucks, and Bessie the cow!

If you’re in the mood for a little problem-solving leisure, check out the vast array of corn and hay mazes waiting to be mastered. Spend a night with friends running through the corn maze at Phillips Corn Maize in Cary or The Maze at Hector’s Creek in Fuquay-Varina. Philips Corn Maze currently features a rendering of the late N.C. State women’s basketball coach, Kay Yow, with partial ticket proceeds going towards her cancer fund.

Autumn isn’t autumn without a little Halloween spookiness. So if you’re in the mood to send chills up your spine, visit Clayton’s Fear Farm. The farm includes a haunted hayride, house, and a 10-acre corn maze not for the faint of heart, so bring a friend!  Raleigh’s The Frightmare also seems to be popular with spook-seeking patrons. Located on Capital Blvd, this scary sight has a 3D indoor maze, a wild hearse ride, and even a place to be buried alive!

Whether you’re looking for a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful fall weather with your family or simply looking for a fun night out with friends, visit some of these attractions in Greater Raleigh. You’ll never want to spend fall anywhere else!
